The Heartland Riders is the local riding club sponsored by Gail's. Joining the Heartland Riders is a great way to seek adventure, build friendships, and create unforgettable experiences with other motorcycle enthusiasts. For any questions regarding our Heartland Riders, please contact the H.R. office (816) 966-2222 or email hog@feelthepower.com.

H.R. Orientation

Join us for H.R. orientation to learn all about the Heartland Riders and all that we have to offer. New members may also request to be referred to a group mentor to help show you the ropes through our Easy Rider Program. H.R. orientation is held the 3rd Saturday of each month at 12:30pm in the employee break room on the 2nd floor of Gail’s Poweresports.

H.R. Meetings

Attending meetings is a great way to meet other motorcycle riders, make new friends, and learn about upcoming rides and events. H.R. meetings are held the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10 am in the H.R. Lounge at Gail’s. We want to welcome you and hope to see you at the next meeting!

Group Riding Seminars

Several times a year H.R. hosts group riding seminars for all members. These seminars are very informative and provide safety tips, review of hand signals, ride formation details, and much more. We highly recommend that you attend at least one, especially if you are new to riding in a group.

Heartland Riders Rides & Patches

The Mission Statement of Heartland Riders is to "Ride and Have Fun". We want to encourage ALL H.R. members to join in rides and events. We would like for others to find out what we are about and one of the ways is to invite a guest on a ride. We can do so, but with a few guidelines.

1. A guest Rider or a guest Passenger can come on a ride as a "guest" of another full member.
2. There can only be one Guest rider or one guest Passenger per FULL member on a ride. In other words, a member cannot invite several Passengers or a Riding guest on a single ride.
3. The guest Rider or Passenger cannot earn a patch unless they are a Heartland Riders member.
4. This should only be for a "couple of rides" to determine if they want to join. After that, we ask that they join.
5. A Program Ride will only apply to one program which is at the Officer's/Ride Leader's discretion.
6. All Heartland Riders rides are alcohol and drug-free.

We are proud to carry on the "Year-Round Rider" patch. It will recognize the dedicated members that ride all year in the given year. In order to qualify, you must ride and be signed up on the roster of at least one Heartland Riders ride per month. Any official H.R. ride will count towards the patch: Breakfast Rides, Day Trippers, Road Hog, Road Warrior, Hooky rides, Ice Cream Rides, etc.

There are three different levels:

Gold- At least one ride in each of the 12 months

Silver- At least one ride in each of 11 months

Bronze- At least one ride in each of 10 months

If there is a month due to bad weather that we cannot offer a chapter ride, the requirements will diminish by one (1) month. There must be a minimum of two rides offered, one of which is on a Saturday or Sunday, to count that month towards the program. Remember this is a riding program NOT a driving program.

Dinner Drives/Rides

Because of the darkness and evening falling temperatures, from November 1st to the time change in the Spring, our normal dinner rides will become Destination Dinner Drives (unless otherwise specified by the ride leader). A drive will not count toward our Year-Round Riding Program, but it does count as a participation Ride. Always check the Swine Line (816-966-6530) and your email the day of the drive for up-to-minute information or changes. The destination will be available to you the day of the drive after 12 noon via both forms of communication. Your safety is the chapter's first concern.

This ride program hits the Mother Road, Route 66, and all that it has to offer including great destinations, incredible sights, and good old-fashioned eats.

We will periodically plan rides to each of the states that Route 66 travels through with food stops at a Diner, Drive-in, or Dive.

There will be 3 patch levels. To qualify, you need to have a meal at a Diner, Drive-in, or Dive on a Chapter 66DDD ride and do this in 5, 6, or all 8 states the mother road passes through. These include Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Rides will be planned to accomplish this feat.

It could take multiple years to earn the patch. Members may work on more than one patch at a time in conjunction with the 66DDD ride patch. For example, a Discover America riding through the most western states in the 66DDD categories may be achieved on the same ride. A 2-day 500 miler can also be coupled with the 66DDD patch requirements like to Texas or New Mexico for example. The ever-popular Balloon Fiesta Ride is another good example. You just need to get 5, 6 or ALL 8 states and dine on Route 66 in each state. You want to ride? Let's get some kicks on Route 66 triple D style. https://www.route66news.com/route-66-restaurants/ has a list of restaurants on Route 66.

To qualify for the Discover America Patch, a rider must complete a qualifying Discover America H.R. ride. The description of a Discover America Ride is:

1. A minimum of 2,500 round trip motorcycle pleasure riding miles.
2. A minimum of seven (7) consecutive days.
3. Heartland Riders sponsored ride led by a current officer.

Rules to get the patch: There will be 3 patch levels. To qualify you need to have a meal at a Diner, Drive-in, or Dive on a Chapter 66DDD ride and it has to be in 5, 6, or all 8 states the mother road passes through. These include Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Rides will be planned to accomplish this feat.

Day rides in Missouri and Texas 2-day-ride are approved rides for this patch. Future events will be announced. It might take multiple consecutive years to earn the patch which will be allowed up to 3 years in total.

In addition to the above, it is allowed to work on more than one patch at a time in conjunction with the 66DDD ride patch. For example, Discover America and the most western states in the 66DDD categories can be achieved on the same ride. A 2-day 500 miler can also be coupled with the 66DDD patch requirements like to Texas or New Mexico for example. The ever-popular Balloon Fiesta Ride is another good example. You just need to get 5, 6, or ALL 8 states and dine on Route 66 in each state in a 3 year period. Do you want to ride? The purpose of this program is to encourage riding, safety and fellowship with other Heartland Riders Members. The program is focused on SINGLE day rides beginning at Gail's. This allows all members to take road trips when limited time is available. The description of a Day Tripper Ride is:

1. A minimum of 150 miles with NO maximum mileage. The ride must leave and return on the same day safely.
2. You must participate in FOUR Day Tripper Rides during the current calendar year.
3. You must be a Full or Associate Heartland Riders member before leaving on the ride to qualify for the patch.
4. The ride must have a physical point of interest (not just a meal).

An Ice Cream ride is simply a chapter ride to a destination to get ice cream treats. To qualify for the patch, you must participate in 6 ice cream rides in one calendar year. You can qualify for a year rocker by participating in 6 ice cream rides in the years after qualifying for the initial patch.

Each January the slate is wiped clean, and you will start over for that year. You cannot qualify for both in the same year.

As always, should you or any of your H.R. friends get a speeding ticket or a citation for doing an illegal U-turn; the HPR Office will disavow any knowledge of your actions. Good luck, fellow riders. This challenge must be completed in a maximum of 5 consecutive days.

Now, what do Rockport, Alexandria, Steele, and South West City all have in common with Reserve, St. Francis, Elkhart, and Baxter Springs? Well, they are located in the four corners of either Missouri or Kansas and have at least two gas stations in case one happens to be closed. Your challenge is to visit each of these towns and bring back to the HPR Office, as proof, a gas receipt. Make sure the receipt shows the date, time, and city. That will be proof that you visited each city within a maximum of five consecutive days. A special patch will be awarded to those H.R. members who do each state.

Because Heartland Riders is a "Family of Riders", we are including in our programs an individual mileage program.

For H.R., this is a yearly program where the mileage you accumulate between May 1st and May 31st of the following year will count towards your total. Even though the actual charter of H.R. is from March to March, we feel that running this program through a later month is beneficial to your riding enjoyment.

Now here's how it works. First of all, your beginning mileage must be documented by having a current H.R. officer sign the back of your local membership card with your mileage and the date at that time. It becomes your responsibility to keep track of your card throughout the year keeping it when you renew your local membership. Anytime during the following month of May, an H.R. Officer must document your ending mileage on your old card then that officer will record your ending mileage as the beginning mileage on your new membership card. The officer will keep your old card and turn it into the Chapter mileage coordinator.

If you trade scoots during the year, you must document the ending mileage of the trade-in and the beginning mileage of the new purchase. This can be done from the paperwork when you trade at Gail's. If you sell your scoot to an individual, you must have an officer again document the ending mileage. The Fly & Ride program through H-D® can be counted towards your total if you furnish an officer with proof of your miles traveled while participating. (AIR MILEAGE NOT COUNTED) If you have more than one scoot, each one must be documented separately.

Remember that your ending mileage can be turned in anytime during the month of May with May 31st as the absolute final date. Your ending mileage will be the starting mileage for the following year. Recognition will be awarded to all those who participate with a special patch and a rocker for any rider going over 10,000 miles. Qualifying passengers may also participate and receive the 10,000+ patch.

The Road H.R. program is based upon a minimum of four 250-mile per day rides. This program runs on a calendar year basis. All rides must be approved at an officers' meeting prior to the ride. These rides must be open to all chapter members and promoted either through the Swine Line (816) 966-6530, the Heartbeat, an H.R. e-mail, or announced at an H.R. meeting before the ride. Throughout the year, there will be ample rides planned to ensure your chances to participate.

1. A minimum of 250 motorcycle pleasure riding miles per day.
2. On a multi-day ride, involving riding 250 miles or more on two or more days, the ride will count as a maximum of 2-Road H.R. qualifiers towards the four that is required for the patch.
3. You must participate in FOUR 250-mile per day rides in the program year.
4. The member rider will be awarded a patch and bar the first year of participation.

3. You must leave and return with the group each day.
4. The patch will only be awarded to FULL or ASSOCIATE local members before leaving on the ride.
5. Only one (1) of these rides within the calendar year will qualify for the patch.

Each year in the winter, we ride in memory of the coldest day ever recorded in the state of Missouri and again in the summer for the hottest day. You earn our famous Frozen Bun / Hot Sticky Bun patch and year rockers for each ride you participate in. The yearly rockers are blue for the Frozen Bun and red for the Hot Sticky Bun.

Everyone knows how fast Gail tears down the drag strip, but did you know the Heartland Riders (formerly, American Heartland H.O.G.® Chapter) was the fastest-growing H.O.G.® chapter ever? We knew something big was happening when 240 attended the very first meeting in 2003. To date, nearly 2,000 riders are registered Heartland Riders (formerly: American Heartland members). The mission of H.R. is to ride and have fun, and we certainly do both! We love to ride - from 30-minute dinner rides to 9-day 4,000-mile rides across the country and into Canada. And we love to have fun during our rides, at meetings, and while volunteering at many of Gail's sponsored rides and events. We all feel very much a part of the Gail's family of riders. Be sure to stop in the dealership and meet H.R. Director Robert Bartow. Come and join us!!
